itv.com - what are they doing?
01 September 2007, 14:41
I went to itv.com the other day, not quite sure why, but I did. The first promo image was about Wayne Rooney's injury, which I was interested in so decided to give it a click...

That took me to the sport site (itv.com/Sport - capital letters in the URL, and linking to default.html for whatever reason) with same promo, so I click it again...

Then I'm on the football site (at itv-football.co.uk - not itv.com/sport/football, or itv-football.com) with yet another promo.

I'm getting hacked off at this point, but want to see it through, and thank god the click of this promo goes to the article...

Other annoyances include...
- Some top nav item links open in a new window, and others don't
- Some promos open in new windows, and other don't. This is particually annoying when it causes two video streams to play at the same time
- Feedback form asks for your browser and OS - don't they know that already?
- Most of the video doesn't work on a Mac. Why?
- The dating site (not that I'm interested) is whitelabeled into ITV dating and FriendsReunited dating. Why bother?
- Some content is needlessly written out using Javascript - presumably so that it can be updated centrally. Weird.
